Pilates is a mind body conditioning exercise program that targets deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall central core staibility and posture.
Pilates suits all ages and fitness levels and is particularly beneficial for those with back pain, poor posture, sport injuries and arthritis. It is also grat for injury prevention or for those who simply want to tone and strengthen their bodies.
Back in Control Pilates & Physiotherapy practice Matwork Pilates. These classes are based on the mat and follow a repertoire of APPI (Austrailian Physiotherapy Pilates Insitute) Pilates method exercise. The APPI technique of Pilates instruction ensures the safe and scientifically researched movement patterns are learned.
This is a safe, low impact class tailored for the older individuals with reduced or restricted mobility, osteoporosis, post operative, joint replacement, back pain or just keen to try Pilates for the first time.
The ability to modify exercises to meet differing needs, along with the many benefits of the Pilates method, such as increased levels of strength, balance, flexibility, muscle tone, stamina, and well-being, makes this Keep Mobile Pilates class perfect for the older population. Classes are small enough that some individual instruction can be expected at Back in Control.
Learn the essential principles of Pilates. Classes include exercises to improve spinal mobility, flexibility of the key trunk and lower limb muscle groups, body awareness and postural awareness. As well as strengthening and toning all the parts of the body. It is the place to start and can be the level to stay at if you have underlying medical/orthopaedic problems. Spinal pain and other orthopaedic conditions can often be effectively managed through exercising at this level. Each exercise can be modified as required to an easier or more difficult version to allow for individual variation, injury etc.
Various small equipment (foam rollers, Pilates rings, Pilates balls, weighted balls, therabands and loop bands) is used to further enhance the effects of the exercise, increase toning and mix up the challenge. Uses small equipment to assist/resist movement and provide variety to the class.
Progression to intermediate level is ONLY appropriate after a beginners course has been completed. The client must have learnt the basic principles have adequate strength and control in particular Pilates exercises. This level of class will provide a bigger challenge to the abdominal and pelvic muscles.
A variety of
equipment is used to provide resistant to movement of facilitate more challenging exercises.
If you prefer to work on a 1-to-1 basis, with a friend or friends, then these sessions are for you.
The session format and the exercises given are tailored to suit your individual needs and objectives. They allow for greater progression and development and are a must for anyone requiring that individual attention.
Individual Pilates programmes can be provided at these sessions.
Current class attendees will receive 7/14 days of priority booking when dates are released for each block of classes
Any classes NOT paid for when priority booking ends will be forfeited and offered on a first come first serve basis.
Classes booked MUST be paid for in full at the time of booking
Class fees are non transferable and non returnable
In the event that you are unable to attend there will be no refund or transfer of money to another set of classes.
If you are unable to attend a class during the course, class swaps are subject to space availability in the desired class.
